Diary of a School Dog - March 2025 cont.

Tuesday 18th March 2025

You will never guess what! Mrs Taylor has sent off my application to Canine Assisted Learning to see if I would be a suitable Therapy Dog. I have such a lot to learn that it is making me feel a bit nervous but then I spent some time with Katie from 3D who made me feel much calmer.

Bethan was back to finish her assembly at lunchtime. She was concentrating hard on the PowerPoint but I wanted her to play with me so kept barking. I think I made Mrs Taylor grumpy but Bethan just kept giving me a sunny smile so I couldn’t have been too much of a distraction - could I?

Tomorrow is my rest day – see you Thursday!

Thursday 20th March 2025

Yesterday, I played in the garden with Mary and Allan for most of the time. It was a fabulous day but I am still worn out, even after having an early night. It shows how important it is to get a good night’s sleep when you are learning.

I’ve spent almost all of today watching people coming in and out of the office and I've done a lot of dozing in between.

This afternoon, a lovely lady called Debbie rang to discuss my training as a therapy dog. Next Thursday, someone called Nic will be coming in to meet me to see if she thinks I am up for the job. I am keeping my paws crossed that she will think I can do it.

Friday 21st March 2025

Another fantastic week and although I absolutely love coming to school, I am looking forward to a lie in this weekend.

I have fallen in love with the most amazing octopus toy. It is bright orange and blue, twice my length and makes crinkly noises every time it moves. It was a present from Jacob in 6D and I have spent today dragging, shaking and wrestling with it in Mrs Taylor’s office. I tried to eat its head but it just stayed silent and smiled at me whatever I tried to do to it. In the end, I used it as a pillow for forty winks.

Have a lovely weekend - see you Monday.

Woo Hoo - my very first assembly. I sat beautifully on a chair so everyone could see me for most of the time but I had to get down and stretch my legs towards the end. We went over reminders of how to greet me so that I can always be the very best School Dog possible.

Mrs Taylor was out late last night at something called WASMA and in assembly the choir stood up so that she could tell them how amazing their singing, acting and behaviour was. She said it was one of the best concerts ever and she looked very, very proud......I think I might ask if I can join the choir.

Thursday 27th March

I met the CAL trainer today and was measured for my therapy dog jacket. I didn't know that I would also be getting a special long lead - its so exciting!

I heard Mrs Taylor talking about tomorrow....... I think she said something about an INSECT day - I'm not really sure what it involves but I did hear mention of the teachers doing some training. I wonder if they have to wear special jackets too?

Monday 31st March 2025

I had my first sleepover this weekend. Mrs Taylor went to a wedding and I spent some of the weekend with Jenny, the lovely lady who looks after our Prayer Garden. She took me for lots of walks and I got to play with her children - I was totally spoilt and even got to sit on the sofa, something I am never allowed to do at home.

I did get a bit homesick when I woke up during the night and realised where I was but Jenny got up with me and took me for a walk round the garden and I felt much better.

This afternoon, an extendable lead was clipped onto my harness meant I was able to lie in the sunshine outside Mrs Taylor's fire door.
