Wednesday 21st October

2.04pm

The children had a lovely, calm start to the day in their classrooms. Spirits were high despite the torrential rain, and there was a real buzz of excitement in the air. It seems even the weather couldn’t dampen Year 6’s enthusiasm!

By the time bags, bodies and rather a lot of luggage were safely on board, the coaches set off at 10.27am. The journey went smoothly and, with Liddington approximately an hour away, they were soon well on their way to their adventure.

The coach drivers were full of praise for our fabulous pupils, commenting on their excellent behaviour throughout the journey. Well done, Year 6! What a brilliant start, and long may it continue!

4.30pm

The staff and children were delighted to discover that tomorrow’s breakfast slot is not, in fact, at the crack of dawn, but a very civilised 8:50am! This welcome news means there will be time for a well-earned lie-in after another action-packed day. Although the weather remains cool, overcast and occasionally rainy, it certainly hasn’t dampened the spirits of our intrepid explorers, who continue to embrace every moment of their Liddington adventure with enthusiasm and excitement!

Each group completed two of the exciting activities on offer this afternoon and certainly worked up a healthy appetite in the process! Their sessions are due to finish shortly, giving everyone the chance to enjoy some well-deserved downtime before heading to the dining hall for their first evening meal at PGL. We’re sure there will be plenty of eager faces ready to tuck into dinner after such an action-packed day!

Orienteering - Map in hand, adventure awaits! Teams will navigate the site in search of hidden control points, putting their brains and teamwork to the test. It’s a race against time and a chance to show off those navigation skills to see who will be the first to crack the course?

Sensory Trail - Working in teams, the children explored the woodland using their senses to tackle a variety of exciting challenges. There was plenty of laughter, teamwork and determination as they stepped outside their comfort zones, built trust in one another and discovered the natural world in a whole new way.

Giant Swing - Harnessed into a two-seater swing which the rest of the group hauling it up to a height of up to 10m. It is up to each pair of passengers as to how high they want to go before pulling the release cord and hurtling down towards the ground, before swinging up again towards the sky. This activity is described as breath-taking!

Vertical Challenge - The Vertical Challenge is a thrilling high ropes activity that combines climbing, balance and agility high above the ground. Participants navigate a series of elevated obstacles, ropes and platforms, testing their coordination and determination as they make their way through the course. With each section becoming more demanding, the challenge offers an exciting opportunity to reach new heights and experience the excitement of adventure in a safe and supportive environment.

A slight change to tomorrow evening’s plans: the weather forecast isn’t looking particularly promising, so the campfire and silent disco have swapped places! The children will enjoy the camp fire tonight, while tomorrow evening will be spent on the dance floor, keeping everyone warm, dry and comfortable whatever the weather decides to do.
